CLAT

Intermediate MEC / CEC with CLAT Integration

An integrated Intermediate MEC/CEC programme with focused CLAT preparation to strengthen your academic foundation and prepare you for leading law entrance examinations.

Programme Overview

This programme is designed for students pursuing Intermediate MEC/CEC who want to build a strong foundation in Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, and Business Studies while preparing simultaneously for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The integrated curriculum combines Intermediate academics with structured CLAT preparation, helping students develop skills in English, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.

Eligibility

Pass in Class 10. CLAT-UG itself requires a minimum of 45% in Class 12, or 40% for SC/ST/PwD candidates under the CLAT 2027 eligibility rules; there is no upper age limit.

What is CLAT?

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the national-level entrance examination conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities for admission to the five-year integrated LL.B. programmes (B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B., B.Com. LL.B., etc.) at the National Law Universities (NLUs), and to LL.M. programmes. It is held once a year in offline pen-and-paper mode. CLAT 2027 registrations opened on 3 August 2026 and close on 31 October 2026; the examination is scheduled for 6 December 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Confirm updates at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

CLAT Course Structure & Examination Pattern

Pattern (CLAT-UG)

  • 120 multiple-choice questions, 2 hours, 1 mark each; −0.25 for every wrong answer.
  • Questions are passage-based and comprehension-driven. Reading passages are broadly at Class 12 level; Quantitative Techniques uses Class 10 mathematics.
  • Five sections with approximate weightage:
    • English Language — 22–26 questions (about 20%)
    • Current Affairs including General Knowledge — 28–32 questions (about 25%)
    • Legal Reasoning — 28–32 questions (about 25%)
    • Logical Reasoning — 22–26 questions (about 20%)
    • Quantitative Techniques — 10–14 questions (about 10%)
  • The published CLAT 2027 syllabus and examination format retain these five sections.

Subjects involved / what the exam tests

Reading speed and comprehension, vocabulary in context, awareness of national and international current affairs, ability to apply legal principles to fact situations (no prior law knowledge required), critical reasoning, and elementary mathematics (data interpretation, ratios, percentages, averages).

NLUs and law schools reached through CLAT

  • NLSIU Bengaluru; NALSAR Hyderabad; NLIU Bhopal; WBNUJS Kolkata; NLU Jodhpur; HNLU Raipur; GNLU Gandhinagar (and GNLU Silvassa campus); RMLNLU Lucknow; RGNUL Patiala; CNLU Patna; NUALS Kochi; NLUO Cuttack; NUSRL Ranchi; NLUJA Assam (Guwahati); DSNLU Visakhapatnam (Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University — Andhra Pradesh’s own NLU, right here in Vizag); TNNLU Tiruchirappalli; MNLU Mumbai, Nagpur and Aurangabad; HPNLU Shimla; DNLU Jabalpur; DBRANLU Sonipat; NLU Tripura (Agartala); and other participating NLUs.
  • Many private and affiliated law colleges also accept CLAT scores. Check each institution’s current admissions policy.
  • NLU Delhi does not participate in CLAT; it conducts its own exam, AILET, whose preparation overlaps substantially with CLAT.
  • Other exams supported by the same foundation include AILET (NLU Delhi), SLAT (Symbiosis Law Schools), MH-CET Law, and AP LAWCET (for the 5-year LL.B. in Andhra Pradesh’s state law colleges). Each exam also needs practice specific to its pattern.

MEC or CEC for CLAT?

Both are accepted. CEC (Civics, Economics, Commerce) gives direct exposure to political science and constitutional concepts that feed the Legal Reasoning and GK sections; MEC keeps the CA/IPMAT doors open while still preparing for CLAT. Our counsellors help students choose based on aptitude and back-up plans.

Specializations

CLAT/AILET focus; AP LAWCET focus; Law + Commerce (B.B.A. LL.B. / B.Com. LL.B. orientation).

Admission requirements

  • Class 10 marks memo / pass certificate
  • Transfer certificate, study certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar, passport-size photographs
